Empower Your Body!

"The journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step."

     - Lao Tzu

For the longest time, I felt too busy to exercise.  I worked ten-hour days and came home and worked on my book and web site.  Then I took a business trip near a ski resort, so I stayed an extra day to hit the slopes.  Unfortunately, I caught an edge and took a nasty fall down the mountain, tearing ligaments in my knee.

Find Balance

Try simple things to become healthier.

Remember 5 to stay alive.

Eat five servings of fruits and vegetables each day.

Make eating a healthy snack the easy choice.  Plan ahead.  Have an apple or cut up veggies ready when those hunger pangs hit.

Drink at least 8 glasses of water each day.

Accept Yourself:

Be willing to love and accept yourself as the imperfect and wonderful person that you are. Overcome crippling self-judgment.  Replace it with compassion and a realistic assessment of your true value.

Easy Tips to add more fitness to your life:

Find a set time to exercise and schedule it in along with your other top priorities.

Find the time that works best for you.  Is it first thing in the morning?  Lunch time?  After work?

Start slow:

You don’t have to compete in the Olympics next week.  Start by walking around the block for 10 minutes, slowly build up to a 30 minute walk.

Breathe!

Practice ‘belly’ breathing.  Good oxygen flow energizes the entire body.

Look for small things to add activity to your life:

Park at the end of the parking lot.  The extra walk will add only minutes to your task and yet years to your life!

Get an Exercise buddy:

Have a friend that will help nudge you into exercising when you may have opted to skip a day.
